Character Name: Shizuo Heiwajima
Canon: Durarara!!!
Age: 23
Gender: Male

Canon Point: Post-Shooting.
History: I don't understand how this guy isn't locked up.
Personality: The Monster of Ikebukuro. Violence Incarnate.

These are but a few of the many titles people have come to associate with this man. It is not an exaggeration to say that, for most, it's best to avoid the tall, lanky blonde man at all costs. His famous hair trigger temper, combined with his ability to preform amazing feats of strength, means that he could go off at any second and become a deadly force. Vending machines, street lights, traffic signs - anything can be made into a weapon, and that weapon could be used against you. In fits of irrational rage, even a dirty look from a stranger could set him into a blind fury. There is no verbal warning. You'll see nothing other than his slasher smile and crushed cigarette before you find his fist firmly lodged in your face.

Shizuo is completely incapable of controlling his temper. When enraged, his mind simply blanks and all thoughts are replaced with the need to destroy. He gives in to those horrible impulses and allows them to run their course, regaining himself only after a substantial amount of damage has been done to the enemy and surrounding area, or until something shocks him into his senses. He also uses words as a way to calm himself. By channeling his destructive impulses into a verbal mantra of 'kill kill kill' in times he absolutely must remain calm, he's able to maintain a thin hold on his temper. Until something else sets him off. His temper itself also has a shockingly fast cooldown time. A distraction can make all the difference between tearing out another sign or walking off to the next job.

One might expect that, with that sort of weakness, he prefers violence to anything else and prides himself on his inhuman strength and lives for the thrill of battle. In reality, Shizuo cannot stand violence. He loathes it. He hates hurting people and would much rather live a normal life, as a normal person. There was no violent TV or video games to influence him, his parents were normal, and his brother was just like any other little brother - Shizuo blames and, in some way, hates himself for what he has grown up to be.

The real Shizuo Heiwajima, the man underneath the monster, is quite soft spoken and gentle. He is a man who just wants to live in society. He wants a normal life. A job, a day without rage, normal friends - but has to settle for living as normally as he can with who he is.

Shizuo has somewhat detached himself from society and most of humanity, limiting social interactions to the bare minimum - which is difficult, as Shizuo admits that he cannot live completely alone and needs to interact with the world. The few people he is close to greatly vary in importance to him. The scale runs from his younger brother, Kasuka, whose opinion means the world to him, to Celty, who is a soothing presence and an important friend to him, to Izaya - who he would love to see dead. Due to his limited social experience, he often comes across as somewhat rude. For example, Shizuo often forgoes honorifics due to his stunted social growth.

Finally, Shizuo is not the sharpest tool in the shed. While not stupid, he isn't winning any academic awards and easy to fool. He prefers straightforward explanations, straightforward people, and gets frustrated when people dance around a subject or give him a complicated answer.
Powers: Three words:

Super. Human. Strength.

The normal human body is limited to only a third of it's strength. Were it to use all the power it was capable of, it would most likely destroy itself in the process. The limiters are only released when in a crisis, allowing people to do superhuman feats such as lift cars or getting up after being shot.

Shizuo does not possess such limiters.

Despite being a rather average (albeit tall) guy, Shizuo can knock someone out with a flick of his finger. He can also get up after getting shot or stabbed and walk, "'cause he can", in his own words.

In Radi, Shizuo's abilities will be greatly reduced! Much to his pleasure. He will be able to take more of a beating than most people, but will not be able to lift enormously heavy objects without causing himself great physical pain. His great strength will be turned into a great weakness. The only way he will be able to lift these objects would be during one of his tantrums, his strength will be a little above the human average otherwise.
