Character Name: Siren / Ellen Kurokawa
Canon: Suite Precure♪
Age: That's a good fucking question. She's actually not a real human, she's a cat-fairy-mascot thing stuck in human form, so. Ambiguous? She looks 14.
Gender: Female.

Canon Point: Post-canon;
History: Wikilink.
Personality:
Siren was a kind, helpful cat, hailing from the beautiful country in the sky, Major Land. Her best friend, Hummy, was younger than her, and they trained in the art of singing for the chance to become Major Land's songstress so they might one day sing the Melody of Happiness. She coached Hummy, worked with her as they both strove to be great singers. Siren, having a beautiful, natural voice, was chosen to sing the Melody of Happiness year after year, but even so, she insisted that Hummy keep on practicing and always cheered her best friend on. She was absolutely sure that Hummy's talent would shine through. Gentle and protective, as Hummy's tricked and given a fake score right before tryouts, she gives Hummy her score so she can sing the right notes to be judged on whether she would be Major Land's songstress.

This is not the Siren we see at first glance, however.

Hah! Hummy, you're just as dense as ever!
I'm about to sing the Melody of Sorrow. The world will fall into sadness--are you alright with that?

No, the Siren we see at first glance is wicked and mean. She calls Hummy airheaded; upon Hummy being named Major Land's new songstress, she allegedly switches sides out of jealousy and allies with Minor Land's King, Mephisto. She willingly sings a rewritten version of the Melody of Happiness, it turning into a Melody of Sorrow, stating to Hummy that she's the real songstress, and that her voice will plunge the world into sorrow.

When Hummy was named songstress for Major Land, it's revealed, Siren was jealous--but not to the point of willingly allying with those of Minor Land. In her envy, Siren was taken advantage of, like most of Minor Land's residents--and brainwashed into being the King's new songstress. After all, the King could rewrite the score all he wanted, but without a songstress to sing it to life, the score would not be permanent. Taken advantage of in a moment of dire weakness, Siren easily broke to the potent brainwashing, becoming wildly unlike herself. As Hummy meets with her, the brainwashing starts to lessen--to the point of Siren refusing to ally with Mephisto any longer. Boldly, she claims to not believe him anymore--that she truly believes with all her heart in Hummy's words, that her best friend would never lead her astray. This causes another round of potent brainwashing, leaving her crueler than before for a time.

It's for your own good. Don't worry, you can do it by yourself.

Siren loves music. As one of Major Land's songstresses, she is studious and puts all of her passion into her singing. Hummy remarks that she threw herself into her music, studying everything from rhythm to tempo, and had been chosen year after year at the grand festival to sing the Melody of Happiness. She does not just help Hummy with her trouble spots--Hummy goes as far as to call Siren her teacher, claiming she won't be able to learn the score for the tryout if she doesn't have Siren by her side. As a human and a Precure, she has not lost this. In her human form, she is seen constantly playing an acoustic guitar and singing for a crowd. (How exactly she knows how to play the guitar is left unsaid; as a resident of Major Land, it is possible that she knows how to play many instruments despite taking on a cat form, as she also seems to know the piano.)

Although she was jealous, Siren has proven to be loyal. She did not leave Major Land of her own accord--being brainwashed into doing so, she had no choice, and her will is strong enough to grind down at her brainwashing to the point where she's able to break free, and believe in her friends again. When Hummy is in trouble and is about to be used to evil ends, she reaches her culminating point--she breaks free of her constraints and permanently becomes a human. Not just a human, but a Precure. Her desire to be loyal and protect Hummy as she always has produced her Precure form, despite all odds. She is altruistic, preferring to cut ties and rocket her friends to the top, even if she does become jealous afterward. If she's cut ties and she's become rivals with Hummy, after all, when she becomes jealous, Hummy won't have to see her stoop so low.

Despite her kindness, Siren is socially awkward, especially as a human. As a cat, she is embedded into the culture and is confident; she is blunt and demands answer, generally running the show. When she is trapped as a human, however, especially after she is conscious of all the damage she's done, Siren walks on eggshells. She feels horrible for what she's done--she can't face everyone, and she doesn't think she even deserves to be a Precure. She remembers the faces she's hurt, and runs away from them, unable to face the massive guilt that accumulates. Upon first hanging out with Kanade and Hibiki (the two starring Precures), she doesn't voice any opinions; she awkwardly decides to just go with whatever they say, and do whatever they do, because she's so lost on how to be friends. Both Kanade and Hibiki wonder, idly, if she's being too considerate to them, as Siren wonders if they truly even would want her around or if they'd even like for her to call them by name, after all the pain she's caused them.

Siren has trouble communicating, and is a quiet individual unless she has reason to be excited. She likes learning and applying such knowledge--when she goes on a camping trip, she confesses that she read all about it and tried ther best to adhere to "camping lifestyle" overnight. She expresses a want to attend school when summer vacation is over, and once she's enrolled, Siren is shown to be a great, studious student. Introspective, as Kanade and Hibiki are outgoing and explosive with their desire to attain their dreams, Siren simply listens and helps them, while keeping her struggle with realizing her own dream a secret. While she can bring such a thing up, it's rare; there are some things that Siren simply feels she must keep to herself. Like her friendship with Hummy, Siren tends to give a supportive role, and tends to be shyer and more naive than the other two. This is, most of the time, due to her not being an actual human--giving her introduction spiel when she joins school turns disastrous (even if the other students find it charming) when she writes her name hugely all over the board and gives simple statements to explain herself ("I like cats. I also like to sing.")

Despite this, she is a strong fighter, always coming to the aid of others. All Precures are said to want to protect something--Hibiki and Kanade want to protect everyone's happiness, and Ako wants to protect Major Land. Siren is shown as wanting to protect Hummy--protect her friends, something that manifests in her power as well, as one of her most frequent attacks is actually a defensive attack that makes a noise-blue barrier appear. Her need to protect her friends is strong enough to show through her power. In the end, like Hibiki and Kanade, she finds her dream. While her friends seek to inspire happiness, Siren seeks to protect both of their dreams. In a way, her dream is for her friends to achieve their dreams, speaking lengths about her character.

Powers:
Let's play! Precure Modulation!

Siren is only able to change into her Precure form, and has three attacks; Beat Sonic (conjuring a field of musical notes that turn into energy arrows, piercing and causing damage to a target), Beat Barrier (conjuring a magical, spherical barrier around herself and any party) and Heartful Beat Lock (an energy ring that explodes when she says the final word). She is super-strong in her Precure form and capable of flying, jumping long distances, and general acrobatic feats.

She will only be able to enter her Precure form at first, but do almost nothing inside of it. Without any of her powers at her disposal, it's basically just a slight speed/power/agility boost.
